Overview

Candidature is the online application platform of Université Moulay Ismaïl (UMI) in Meknes. Students use it to apply to the university's programs, from Bachelor's to Master's and PhD.

I have worked on it as a full-stack developer since June 2024. From May to August 2025 I also built its back-office: the dashboard the university uses to manage the platform.

The Problem

Every admission season, a university receives applications for many programs at once. Without a single online entry point, students have to deal with paperwork and in-person steps, and staff have to collect and sort applications by hand.

Candidature gives applicants one place to apply, and gives the university one place to manage what comes in.

What the Platform Does

• Accounts for applicants: candidates create an account and sign in with their national ID card (CNI) or passport number.
• Self-service password recovery from the sign-in page.
• Applications for every level: one platform for Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs.
• A back-office dashboard for the university to manage the platform and its applications.
• Works on any screen: the interface is responsive, so candidates can apply from a phone as easily as from a computer.

Personal Data, Handled Properly

A platform like this collects personal data from every applicant, so it has to follow Morocco's data protection law (Law 09-08). The sign-in page tells applicants about their rights to access, correct and object to the processing of their data. The processing itself is authorized by the CNDP, the national data protection authority.
